Driving Tests

Driving tests why the long wait

Today I was booking a driving test for one of my learners, who is nearly ready for their driving test. Only to find the first available date is March next year, (This blog was published in Oct).

So why the long wait for tests. Firstly I want to point out that the DVSA informed us a while ago that on average 1600 people per week, that have booked driving test did not turn but I am guessing they have then rebooked a driving test. Imagine if all the test that were booked and taken there would be probably a lot more driving tests avail as a percentage of that would pass freeing more spaces for people.

Another factor is when people want to get through quicker they book a test and then use a cancellation app to help them get a test. But did you know that these companies don’t use your details for just you they will use them to help anyone country wide to get the driving test they wanted.

Another factor  is that people going for the driving test are not ready for the driving test, So the learners are emailed by the DVSA to ask them are you ready to pass. Then give them the option to look at the ready to pass website

Have those that are going for tests ever looked at this website. Most of the time your driving examiner wants you to pass the driving test. They are not there to trick you, although you sometimes might not think it they are people who are trying to do their job to the best they can. Remember they have probably never seen you before and have never seen your driving. Sometimes people turn up in their own cars with no duel controls, some times they turn up and have hardly had any driving and think they can pass as they believe it is easy. The examiners have even been assaulted in the past just because the learner thinks they were not a fail.

All these things add up. To be able to drive takes time. Me personally I don’t think the intense courses are good unless you can do it over 2 or 3 weeks of driving every day for 5 days then yes that may be good.

As with every thing else it takes  time to become a driver that can pass your test. Have a think. On you last driving lesson were you asking your driving instructor about some thing you should have already known.

So let all help each other by learning to drive before you book your test and stop other people making extra money from you just to get you an early driving test which if you rushed through more than likely be a fail.

Remember driving lessons are not cheap and your driving test is £62. why should you pay any more. Even if your driving instructor is booking your test they should only charge you £62.

I would love to see the driving test in Leeds and everywhere else to be a lot shorter. But I would also like to see big smiles on peoples faces as they leave the driving test centre that way I know you have achieved some they could or will change your life for the better.

I hope you enjoyed this blog
