On this Driving lesson you will be learning how to turn right both at a give way and when you are turning right as you are driving down a road.

So lets look at turning right as you drive down the road. As you are driving you will get the instruction “take the next available right,” (or they may say 2nd or 3rd right.)

Once you have been given that instruction you should first check your centre and right door mirror, Then when appropriate signal right. This is after the junction before the one you are turning down.

Then once have signalled you need to position yourself towards the right of your lane, (near the centre line) or in the box provided for you to sit in. Then look down the road you are going on to.

Once you are near where you are turning right you will look forward to look for a safe gap for you to cross the road into your new road. A good indication if the gap is big enough think could I walk across without slowing the car down if so you then you can procced.

Once you have procced and are on the new road check your centre mirror and continue along the road.

Turning right at a give way sign. You will be given the instruction something like “At the end of the road turn right” So the first thing you will do is check your centre and right door mirror. Then you will signal right as long as you have passed any roads before you are turning right, You then position yourself to the right of your lane near the centre of the road. as you come closer to the end of the road start to slow down. We are going to assume that you cannot see both ways as you are approaching.

So once you are at the give way stop look both left and right for a safe gap for you to turn right. Remember that traffic coming from the right can not be slowed down by you when you turn right. Once you are have turned right check your centre mirror then drive on.
