New Driver Legislation

New drivers Legislation
New drivers that have recently passed their driving test have certain rules they need to abide
by if they want to keep their driving licence.
Drivers for the first two years after passing their driving test, are on a probationary licence,
this means that if they accumulate 6 points or more, they will have the licence revoked.
They will then be required to complete the theory and practical and pass both before getting
their driving licence back.
Do you think this goes far enough to prevent the accidents that new drivers can be involved
in?

Should there be more restriction on new drivers?
Do you think it will make any difference?
Some of the things that could be looked at include:
Limiting the time of day, stopping night driving between certain hours.
Limiting the engine size, and type of car
Limiting the number of passengers they can carry.
Zero tolerance for drink and drugs.

Further training can be undertaken using the Pass Plus, this will include at least 6 hours of
extra training, and it should include driving:
In town
In all weathers
At night
On rural roads
On dual carriageways
On motorways.
Not all can involve driving, some might use the theory approach, but driving should be
usually around 5.5 hours, you will not take a test, but need to pass the required standard,
and you will be assessed in the above modules throughout the course.
At the moment, the Pass Plus is not compulsory, but do you think it should be?
